Removal of Search Term Markup
We've deprecated the marking up of search terms in search results because it exhibits inconsistent results and often clashes with themes
@BrendanParm noticed this change in the latest release and I have to agree with his confusion on why this was done.
I am not sure why we did not just opt to bold search terms like Google does, or leave the markup, but have it blank to allow the community owner to decide if/what colour the highlight would be in CSS.
As it stands now, a forum owner would have no way to target the search terms on the search results page. I feel this is a step back in control.

I agree... if anything, we should remove the styling in boilerplate.

The real issue that caused Todd to remove the feature was that we had numerous bugs in the way we highlighted the text that could lead to corruption of output.
It's actually quite difficult to get right and handle all of the edge cases so we've removed the feature for now, until we approach it a more robust way in the future.

Very interesting, thanks for the additional information - I know it's tough to put the full story in release notes.
I am happy to hear it may return :)

Was pointed to this thread by Brendan - SciData (who has 3 communities for mostly tech support) noticed the change, and would like to see the search markups return. They found it quite helpful.
I will provide them with an update that it was a necessary change for now.
Thanks all!
