Advanced Notifications vs. Bookmarked Discussions
We know that there are certain scalability limitations with advanced notifications, which is a pain point for some clients (see my rant here).
We're currently looking at creative alternatives, and one that is being explored is to have users bookmark relevant discussions (and set up their email notifications to send them notifications about new comments on those bookmarked discussions) and receive comment updates rather than subscribe to a category via advanced notifications.
1) Does this approach have the same scalability concerns as advanced notifications?
2) If not, why? I'd like to understand if this is a different mechanism :)
