SEO and Sitemaps
It comes up sometimes (like this morning on a call): Why do our sitemaps contain other sitemaps that have links that are in an archive category that are noindex.
The goals we have is we take a monthly snapshot of the discussions on that page to help go deeper with crawling, but we don't want Google to index those pages. We aren't doing anything nefarious, as Google itself recognizes this practice
"A Noindex tag tells search engines that the relevant page should not be indexed in their search results. If you haven't added a Nofollow to the tag, however, search engines will still follow all the links on the page."
If you have any questions let me know.

How often does this come up to you think? I remember we went through this dance quite deeply with someone. If it is a huge issue it can go to the CAB.

But we aren’t doing it wrong @Todd - it’s just something that needs explanation. Of course you open the pandora box of site map customization...that’s my 2 cents. I’ve not seen a convincing argument for change.
