Advanced notifications are a major pain point.

As staff, we know that any more than ~50 people subscribed will be bad.

We try our best to train people during dashboard training and to warn them about this, but the fact of the matter is that clients do whatever they want and sometimes they don't check in with us.

I think we need to either

  • remove the option for advanced notifications from non admin and member role permissions
  • if that is not possible, can we get a big red 'this is gonna fuck your site' warning?
  • if that is not possible, I think we should at least be a bit more clear here: https://docs.vanillaforums.com/help/roles-permissions/. Yes it says it's for mods and admins only, but we need a skull and cross bones warning about scalability

I know this will be possible with the messages queue, but in the meantime clients are being annoyed as they expect this to work for more than 50 folks, and CSMs/support are spending valuable time they could be spending on other things.

-acer (rectified)
