Bulb's Analytics Wishlist
This list is quite the list, but it's still good insight into what many of my clients are flagging that they'd like to see...
The current stats page does top level stuff well. Thumbs up there. I can easily pull the stats that I keep an eye on every week which makes my normal reporting super easy, so thanks for that. It's the granular level information that is currently missing which I need to be able to advise strategy, analyse campaigns and look at individual members in depth
General engagement stuff:
- Number of private messages sent by a specific member
- Number of private messages sent by whole community
- Number of private messages read by a specific member
- Number of private messages read by whole community
- Number of unique members sending private messages
Crowdsourced help:
The best metric I've found for determining the quality of a helper is the ratio of their Answers:posts compared to that of the community as a whole. To calculate that I need:
- Number of replies by a specific member in a specific category
- Number of Accept Answers earned by a member in a specific category
- Number of replies by the whole community in a specific category
- Number of Accept Answers earned the whole community in a specific category
- Ideally I'd be able to pull an extract of the top 1000 members (defined by which ever metric I choose at the time) active in a specific category for a specified time period
- Number of discussions
- Number of questions
- Number of polls
- Number of replies
- Number of Accepted Answers
- Number of likes
- Number of page views
Which threads are best?
I need granular information on which threads are performing best
Pull an extract of top 1000 threads (defined by which ever metric I choose at the time) for a specific time period
- Number of unique participants
- Number of unique viewers
- Total views
- Total posts
- Total likes
Search terms:
It would be useful to track which terms are being searched and by whom. This will let me advise the company on common problems members are experiencing, so that we can fix them
- Extract of top 1000 words used when searching
- Number of times searched during period
- Number of unique members searching for it
- Number of unique members searching
- Extract of top 1000 search destinations
- How many times they're opened from a search page
- Number of unique members that opened it from a search page
- Top search terms that brought members to it
Big data stuff:
Total pie in the sky for me, but my dream is to be able to see how many members a member has participated with in a time period and how active on average those members are. This would let me see who my influencers are and track how effective my efforts at promoting them are.

Curious who requested this.
The counting of private messages sent/read by a particular user seems... suspect. I feel like there is a fine line between useful knowledge and just giving out more numbers to sate curiosity. What can I ascertain by the number of sent emails in someone's Gmail, for that matter? Probably not much.
"Crowdsourced help" section is generally what we're most focused on so far.
Some insight into search terms seems inevitable.
The web of influence ("big data") metric is really interesting.

Will at Bulb sent this over to me.
I said that same about the private messages, but their employees have PM KPI's they need to hit, so this is why he's looking for an easier way to access this data.0
