The Vanilla Onboarding Game
We have two new developers starting next week, one on Monday and one on Wednesday. One thing I'd like to do is slow down the introductions a little and break the ice as they come around the office to meet folks for the first time. So with that in mind, I propose a small game.
After you are introduced, tell them a random piece of information about yourself that has nothing to do with Vanilla. The catch is: No repeats, ever. So, whatever you tell the new developer on Monday you can never use again for any other new hire.
If you feel inclined to share, you can post 'em here after you use them. I'll give an example for myself: I've spent a weekend hiking on the Appalachian Trail 4 times.
So I've given you a heads up now with plenty of time to think of two for next week! :chuffed:

Are the new hires going to be tested on these things?

Are they gonna be aware of that "game"? Because:
Hi my name is Alexandre and I was struck by lightning once.
is a pretty weird introduction.
Btw I've heard the "That's explains a lot" joke enough. No need to do it :awesome:

I feel like the person doing the introducing might clue them in.

I didn't tell you to use that one...
