Lime scooters
I saw aa couple lime electric scooters near the office this week. Has anyone tried them out? How was it?

I know you need to wear a helmet to use them, and I don't carry one. It is very tempting though to get to the train faster :p

When you say need to wear a helmet, is that a city law or provincial?

It's city regulation

I finally rented a Lime scooter last night. It was a disaster. The throttle worked intermittently and so I ended up only travelling 200 meters at a cost of $USD 1.88. ?️ I'll try a Bird scooter next time.

Found on the Montreal subreddit - not sure who thought that was a good place to leave them.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Wait, can you just leave them wherever when you're done with them? If so this looks like an excellent place to leave them.

Nope - there are designated spots in Montreal. It's part of the trial to see if they will allowed to continue business in the city.
Unlike most jurisdictions, Quebec’s Highway Safety Code obliges e-scooter riders to use helmets, a regulation that has been mostly ignored by Montreal riders. Users are also expected to leave the e-scooters in one of 239 designated street parking spots, but the vehicles are often left out of bounds on sidewalks in parks.
Under its bylaw, Montreal has the power to fine Lime between $200 and $2,000 for parking violations, but has not done so yet. It did send a letter to the company on Aug. 23 saying it wanted to see an improvement in parking. Lime said it has been “100 per cent” compliant with rules requiring the company collect any improperly parked vehicles flagged by the city within two hours.

I know I talked about this in a team awesome, but we had a small scale scoot-pocalypse in Austin during SXSW, so I wish you guys luck in containing the madness. Above is the cops taking scoots from folks who could not help riding them in closed off areas.
Not pictured but also spotted semi-regularly in Austin: Cops goofily riding scooters themselves (without helmets)
