Flag Football Champions!

Hey Everyone,

A few of you might have heard from time to time @Derrick and I discussing our flag football heroics in the office so I wanted to let you know that we won our championship for the division we're in. The team was a perpetual underdog the entire year and this truly was a rags to riches sports story.

The pre-season article (yes the league has articles, on top of podcasts, stats, a Hall of Fame, live feeds of the finals and highlight videos) predicted we would go 1-9. At mid-season we were 1-4 and it was looking like it was going to be pretty bad year. Part of the problem was that we were missing people due to injuries (Punta Cana high jumping for yours truly) or travel and we never fielded a consistent roster. We seemed to put it all together and we're able to finish the season 5-5 and snuck into the last playoff spot in our conference. Our Week 10 Match up was a de-facto playoff match against who we might consider our arch rivals and we won on the last play of the game with a defensive spot to make the post-season.

From there, we knocked off the 3rd, 2nd and 1st seed from our conference in a row and last night put it all together with a 44-27 win over the other conference's top seed and the team everyone had picked to beat us. This team is a bit of motley crew with at the core of it a group of friends and extended friendships as well as some people we've picked up along the way. The team name, KGP, has been a team since 2007 in this league and though there have been many different players play for the team throughout the years, many of whom are my buddies, this was the first time that our KGP team made and won a finals.
