An important Wednesday bulletin: my niece Savannah with Rocky two weeks ago.

i don't usually bring Charlie in the canoe since at 115 lbs, she could easily tip it-- but when she started following us across the lake, we just had to go risk it (she was a good girl and did not tip the canoe).

It takes so many affirmations to keep this dog afloat. He's like a wind-up toy that crumples if he doesn't get enough and every loud noise (thunder, fireworks, high wind) empties the tank immediately.

My weirdo cat slept like this for two hours last night.

I spent a week in Vermont and Maine. Of course I brought Carmen along with me. It was something like 18 hours, each way. She was a trooper, but was enjoying the drive about as much as I was towards the end of each leg.
Ultimately, she did get the chance to enjoy nature! We went on several trails. One of our last days, she drug me up Beech Mountain in Maine and let me take pictures.
But she got tired of that too.
