Shared Accounts and Spoofing In

CSM are aware that shared account are based on cookies but we would like more detail as to why every user we spoof into becomes linked as a shared account. This got brought up by BipolarUK's moderator who was inquiring why her account is shared with the ones she has spoofed in as.

  • The moderator logs into their account and visits the community and they receive a browser cookie related to the troll addon. They then spoof into the account, still in that same session, and therefore still in possession of that browser cookie they received. That's how they get associated with the account they spoofed into.

  • Thanks @BrendanParm that does clear it up a bit. I take it there is no way, out side of removing the troll management addon, to get rid of the shared accounts?

  • In my experience no. I recall we always just told people not to worry about it given that it's permission restricted. They could also just turn off the troll addon if they aren't using it.
