Hi!

Below is the email I sent to two contacts at Bell. I got a positive response from the President on the consumer side and with a nearly identical email scheduled a meeting with a director of communications on the internal side. Bell is a massive company so I was really pleased to hear from individuals at that level. Maybe you will find it helpful. Can't wait to see everyone else's:)

NOTE - this gentleman is the President of residential & small business at Bell. He wouldn't have a clue who my manager friend Ben actually is - if I know absolutely ANYONE at a company who gives me the go ahead - I mention their name as a colleague. Find it ups the amount of responses;)

SUBJECT LINE : Referral

Hello Rizwan,

I was referred to you through a colleague of yours Ben Bowie at Bell.

I work for Vanilla Forums, we are a top brand in the online community space.

I know Rogers, AT&T and Koodo host online communities to reduce their support volume/ costs. Curious why Bell does not host one at this time, or if it has been discussed before? If it would warrant further discussion I would enjoy to set up a phone call to further discuss.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Best,

Robin

  • Very solid email, I like that its clear and straight to the point! Glad you got a response. Do you mind telling me what your subject line was?

  • Heres an email template that I created just for the Switch campaign since it is directed to companies who already have a community forum.

    Hello {{first_name}},

Yesterday I took a deeper look into {{company}} and put a few ideas to the side regarding community forums.

At Vanilla, we work with companies like Acer and host their community forum. You can check out their community here. They have been able to increase their ROI on community by 500% from their previous vendor.

Just wanted to email you and see if {{company}} might be interested in a similar solution.

We made a short video for you, elaborating on our mission and what we can achieve together.

Is this something you guys would be interested in?

  • Heres another one that doesn't aim to be sales oriented so a reader might be more compelled to answer.

    Hello {{first_name}},

I’m hoping you can give me some advice.

I’d like to learn more a little bit more about your current customer strategies for research I am doing at my company, Vanilla. We provide cloud-based community forums to companies such as Acer, Qualtrics, and Microsoft.

In return, I can offer you insights based on our experience with our clients.

Are you the right person to speak with?

    Regards,

  • Subject lines are vital. :) As @Haya asks, please include them in your samples.

  • I added my subject with an edit. If I can name anyone at the company to include I always use the subject 'referral'.

  • Thanks :D
