Staff Forum now allows spaces in user names

I've updated the staff forum config to allow spaces in our user names. The rich editor now has full support for usernames like this and it can mean one less set of handles to remember.

  • But does it allow dumplings?

The rich editor now has full support for usernames like this

@Аdam Charron Does this mean that @mention functionality for usernames with spaces will improve? What do you mean by "the rich editor now has full support" ?

For example, for this comment, I struggled to @mention you. Your username only comes up if I put a space immediately after the @ symbol:

  • Also I don't know if it did this before, but the images, not sent in the email seem to create a big gap

  • Good catch @Adrian ! I don't think we did proper testing of email notifications with the new Rich Editor posts.

@ValR I'm inclined this has something to with caching on this server and my username changing very recently. I will investigate further. On my local test machine the search behaves like this for users with spaces

This was likely due to some manually modification of my username prior to include a ?emoji.

    Edit: Confirmed:

The Latin A and the Cyrillic A look an awful lot a like.

Either due to caching or some other factor, my username was not being indexed properly. After updating my username again I can mention myself with spaces

  • Thanks @Adam Charron I know, @Ryan is to blame here.
