Why does the Hub sync badges automatically?

Per our docs the hub can sync badges https://docs.vanillaforums.com/help/multisite/sync/.

When you sync roles it is a configuration within the hub's role settings whereby you can say that membership and settings are synced.

When you create a category you are given the option to sync that category onto all subsequent nodes.

If you want certain addons enabled or settings configured you can do that in the sites' NodeConfig.

However, when it comes to badges it seems to automatically sync from the Hub without a toggle or opt-in ability. It also seems kind of random, why badges? Why not reactions? Why not ranks (This would actually be super useful and probably should be changed if possible).

King is trying to change the title/description of badges and it kept reverting due to the hub. The fact that we advised them to go with language-based nodes means that if they modified the badge description in the hub then that is what would show on a Spanish or German node which doesn't really make sense.

Can we investigate why this is the case and if it should even be? I actually suspect that it is doing so incorrectly and if so we should remedy it.

    So this seems to be 2 core issues:

    The important one

    King is unable to opt out of badge syncing hub -> node.

    A feature request

    We should allow syncing of ranks hub -> node.

    @Linc @Laura I feel like there is in fact an issue with the way badges sync via the hub. Do we view this more as a support issue that would need to be fixed or a R&D issue to make a toggle/opt-in/out functionality?

    Adding an opt-out to badge syncing can be a support issue since it's causing what is ultimately defective behavior (overwriting localized descriptions).

    Adding syncing to Ranks is something to table for CAB.
