Personality Types
I've been meaning to post this for ages, because I think it might be fun to learn more about the various people we work with, particularly since we're growing. ![]()
There's a personality type indicator called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. While the actual, official test is expensive and very long, there's a pretty detailed site over at 16personalities.com that gives a pretty decent (free) test and a fairly thorough run-down of each personality type.
There are 16 personality types, based on 4 functions which can be one of two options. There's Introvert/Extrovert, iNtuitive/Sensing, Thinking/Feeling and Perceiving/Judging. So your type is your combination of those four functions.
You can take the test here: http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test
Tips:
- go with your first, gut instinct. Don't overthink the questions.
- some of the results might depend on how you're feeling that day, particularly the introvert/extrovert function. (I go back and forth between I/E almost every time I take the test.)
- while your type might be accurate for you (I identify pretty strongly with mine), it might not be. Look at it as a fun exercise.

Post your results below!

My type is typically the ESFJ: http://www.16personalities.com/esfj-personality
The one thing I really take issue with is that I'm not all that social and outgoing, although I can be. My default state is to be more introverted. I also test as ISFJ, though less reliably: http://www.16personalities.com/isfj-personality
How about you?

It just kept flashing the word BEST over and over

I did this a few years ago and came out ENTJ but the guy administering the test said that I was an INTJ that had learned to fake being ENTJ to better fit in at work.

At the same time, like @tim said, it's also a bunch of hooey

OK but seriously this page is mostly scary accurate.
DON'T BOX ME IN, BRO.

I got ENFP ("The Campaigner")

I feel like I'm some kind of warrior from an RPG. "The Defending Sentinel", so dramatic lol.

And I am a classic Ambivert too. Outgoing and social in some contexts and introverted in other situations.

ENTERTAINER (ESFP-A) - drinks and jokes at my desk, 4 0'Clock

Haha, thats perfect, Patrick.
I'd really like to trade in for some combination of Lincolns and Francis's results. "ART SENTINEL, ASSERTIVE DEFENDER OF ADVENTURES" sounds way better than "turbulent mediator"

@tim & @Adrian - Definitely more of a fun thing than something credible, to be sure. The Wikipedia page I linked talks more about it not using good methodology and such. That said, it's fun to see if it resonates with people (like how @Linc is now totally creeped out by how accurate his page is!).
@Lvez & @Mel - I honestly think what happened to Luc happened me. By nature, I'm more introverted, but I've become more extroverted for various activities and work stuff. Maybe it's just because most of the people I spend a lot of time with tend to be introverts, so I'm the sucker who acts more extroverted...?

I did try to answer from the perspective of how I behave more generally rather than imagining a narrow context where I have a learned role. I do a great impression of an ENTJ when I need to but then I need a nap.

Yes, very right. They have very good review articles on personality theory/dimensions in the Journal of American Psychology. But yea MTBI shows ENTP "the Debater" fits pretty well.

Today, I'm a Mediator (INFP-T), so I feel like working with @Laura must've worn me down or something. :chuffed:

I did the thing!

I feel like there's a trend here...
You do support long enough, you become INFP-T.
